stepping out into the rain
stained glass dreaming
you thrive in the summer. but you find moments of bliss in the rain.
hannah said sometime ago yesterday that she was a big fan of rain, and you laughed in response. for as long as you are aware, most things about rain have been a turn off. yes, it’s pretty and is good background noise for the occasional lofi hip hop playlist, but it makes your hands damp, messes your hair up, and reminds you of the all of the melancholy. maybe that 2nd one is a good thing. but you’ve never resonated with rain. it’s better in theory than in execution, is what you said to hannah in response.
there are walkways and arches and barriers and supports to stop you from getting wet. naturally, you ignore them. i think you like rain best when it’s in the nice little midway inbetween pouring and drizzle. there’s a certain air of enchanting to it, like the setting out of a Legend of Zelda game. God chose her waters to rain down at exactly the right pressure and you get to receive the fruits of her labor. walking through the open campus feels good. there’s a little bit (a lot) of wind chill and your jaw is fixed into place because of it, but there’s a certain sense of bliss.
you use that word a lot. it’s a good word, to be fair. but often times, you might just be depriving it of its full beauty and use.
this is not one of those times.
stepping out into the rain. you have a rain jacket, but it’s better to let the water brush and hit you. it occasionally hits smack dab into your headphones, which has a not-great feeling, but in the end, it’s all worth it. it feels beautiful to be without any extra thoughts and merely put your mind at ease. whatever has been troubling you, whatever has been blessed upon to you. life is going in the directions it decides to, and you merely ride across the sea through it. rain is usually better in theory. but in rare cases, you’d live in the rain if you could.
